Calculating Calories Burnt with Trampoline

A very specific formula will help you calculate how many calories you can burn per minute for specific body weight and activity involving the trampoline. The formula:

  • Calories burnt per minute = (MET x Body Weight in kg x 3.5) ÷ 200

Here the term MET stands for the measurement of energy. For recreational trampoline, the MET value is 3.5, while for competitive or intensive trampoline exercises, the MET value stands at 4.5.

So basically, if you want to calculate the number of calories burned by a person weighing 82 kg jumping on a trampoline recreationally,

  • Calories burnt per minute = (3.5 x 82 x 3.5) ÷ 200

So, that person’s total number of calories burned each minute would be 5.02 or 5.

How to Burn 1000 Calories on a Trampoline?

Split Pike Jumping:

Burning a thousand calories in one day with a trampoline alone is a tall order. Only those who are completely focused on burning 1000 calories can achieve this. God knows I have tried and failed multiple times before achieving success.

To burn 1000 calories, you need to bounce around on a trampoline for about 3 to 4 hours. But the thing is you do not have to do it at one go. Instead, make sure you space out your workout time into two or three sessions to make it a bit more bearable on your part.

Here are four of my favorite trampoline exercises that you should try out to get the most efficiency in burning calories. Keep in mind, though, that these exercises require a full-size adult trampoline to work.

Straight Jumping:

It is often the most straightforward exercise that has the best effect, and the same is true when you are using a trampoline. Straight Jump, or just Jumping as most would call it, is exactly as it sounds. You hop on your trampoline and start jumping as you naturally would when “fun” is the only thing on your mind.

When you are bouncing up and down the trampoline, make sure your arms and knees are bent slightly so that you can keep your balance. Otherwise, you might get tilted left or right.

Tuck Jumping:

The following exercise that I love doing is the tuck jump. You need to start with a couple of straight jumps and build up momentum to bounce higher each time. Then, when you are at a comfortable height, you can switch to tuck jumps.

For this exercise, as you are at the peak of your jump, bring your knees to your chest and let go as you fall. Alternatively, you can switch between your knees for a bit more variation

Pike Jumping:

If you want to fire up your core, the pike jump is the perfect exercise to go with. However, similar to tuck jumps, you want to build up a decent height before you start attempting this.

At the peak of your jump, you want to stretch out both your arms and legs in front of you this time. Get your arms and legs as close together as possible before landing. Repeat this each time you bounce.

Split Pike Jumping:

Split Pike Jump is pretty similar to pike jump. However, instead of bringing your arms and legs to the front, you stretch them out to the side this time. This means when you are at the top of your jump; you want to stretch out your left arm and leg to the left and your right arm and leg to the right.

This exercise burns many calories and naturally takes a toll on your body. You should aim for 30 to 60 seconds of sessions and take a short break in between each set. The last thing you want is to overexert yourself and get injured.

Though it is possible to burn so many calories, I would not recommend it. Instead, I believe it is better to set yourself up on a more realistic goal of burning 500 or instead 100 calories each day on the trampoline. Then you can use other forms of exercises such as biking or rowing to burn even more calories.

How Long Do You Have to Jump on A Trampoline to Burn 500 Calories?

Jumping on a trampoline for one and a half hours a day should be enough for burning 500 calories. After that, you should split up your workout routine into two sessions, each lasting for forty to fifty minutes.

How Long Do You Have to Jump on A Trampoline to Burn 100 Calories?

Burning 100 calories a day on a trampoline is relatively easy. Those who have a trampoline at home do it on a daily basis. All you need to do is jump on your trampoline for 15 to 30 minutes each day, depending on the intensity of your workout.
