I got candles, snacks, and a projector and started setting up everything in my backyard without her knowing about it. And when she finally saw what I had done, she was quite impressed.

But sleeping regularly on an outdoor trampoline can do you more harm than good. Just like all things, too much of a good thing is never good. Here are a couple of negatives that can come from sleeping daily on a trampoline.

1. Falling off the trampoline

If you are guilty of moving a lot during your sleep, sleeping on a trampoline might not be a good idea for you, especially if the trampoline is not that big. A trampoline mat rests fairly high from the ground. And while falling off a bed when you are sleeping is not exactly painless, it will hurt you much more if you fall off a trampoline.

However, if there is a safety netting around your trampoline, this might not be the biggest issue to worry about. A trampoline net will make sure you stay on the trampoline even if you happen to roll towards the edge in your sleep. Still, I would not recommend sleeping on a trampoline if you move around a lot.

Sleeping on a trampoline is not the same as sleeping inside a tent that has a roof over your head. If when you are sleeping, it starts raining, you will be drenched long before you can get inside your house. And not only that, your sleeping mattresses, pillows, or anything else that you put on the trampoline will get soaked.

Even if it does not rain, the wind can often pick up during the night. You can easily catch a cold even if you have a couple of blankets covering you. If you live in a particularly cold state, sleeping on a trampoline is not a good idea as the weather can become quite unpredictable.

3. Back Pain

Sleeping on a trampoline every now and then is not a problem. But if you make it a daily thing, it can lead to chronic back pain and discomfort. A trampoline is not designed for sleeping on and has poor support for your back. Even if you bring a mattress to sleep on your trampoline, it will not bode well for your back.

As I already said, a trampoline does not come with a top cover as you would get from a sleeping tent. This means that unless you have some way to cover your eyes when you sleep in the night, you are in for a rude awakening. The bright light from the morning sun will wake you up regardless of whether you slept well or not.

This, however, is not necessarily a bad thing. But if you want to wake up late, then sleeping on a trampoline is not a good idea. You can, of course, wear sleeping blinds when you go to sleep at night if you do not want the morning sun to bother you on the trampoline.

Even during the summer nights, the wind can pick up and turn the temperature down. So, it is always a good idea to bring a couple of heavy blankets with you to keep yourself warm and cozy.

2- Mattresses

Sure, you can lie down on the trampoline mat, but it will not be very comfortable. Instead, I would recommend bringing your bed mattresses with you and laying them on the mat. Your back will thank you for it.

3- Sleeping Bags

If you have a couple of sleeping bags with you, you do not need to worry about bringing mattresses or blankets. A fully covered sleeping bag should give you a firm surface to sleep on while keeping your body at a warm and comfy temperature

4- Trampoline Tents

Yes, trampoline tents are a thing and can be extremely useful for sleeping out on your trampoline during the rainy season. You get a roof over your head but still enjoy the sensation of sleeping on your trampoline.

5- Sleeping Mask

Sleeping masks or blindfolds are pretty important, especially if you do not have a trampoline tent. It will help protect your eyes against the sun in the morning.

6- Rain Coat or Umbrella

If you do decide to use trampoline tents for camping during the rainy season, consider bringing a couple of raincoats too. That way, you do not need to get soaked if you need to go to your house for a quick bathroom break or snacks. An umbrella works just as well.

7- Flashlight

I know you are sleeping under the stars and want to enjoy the moonlight, but it is always a good idea to bring a flashlight or rechargeable lamp with you. That way, you do not have to stumble in the dark when you are eating snacks or trying to grab something.

8- Bug Spray

One of the main drawbacks of sleeping on a trampoline is the insects and mosquitos. So, when you are heading out for your trampoline, remember to take your bug spray with you. You would be surprised how big of a difference it makes in your overall experience.

9- Cushions and Pillows

Bring as many pillows and cushions with you as possible. Cushions are always fun for sleepovers. With a couple of cushions around you, you can curl up snugly and enjoy the stars.

10- Snacks

Snacks are a must-have for any camping trip. And guess what, sleeping on your trampoline with your friends counts as camping in my book. So, take a couple of snacks with you to share with your friends.

11- Games

Taking a couple of board games with you when you are going for a trampoline sleepover is a great idea. That way, if you get bored talking with your friends, you can bring out some games that you all can enjoy together.

Yes, sleeping on a trampoline is pretty safe, but there are some situations when it might be considered risky.

For example, if your trampoline does not have a safety enclosure, it is not a good idea to have a sleepover on it. There is always a small but real risk of someone falling off the trampoline in their sleep, which can lead to some serious injuries. With a safety net, though, you can prevent this from happening.

Some trampolines out there can be brought closer to the ground by adjusting the legs. If your trampoline has that option, you should use it. That way, even if someone does fall off, they will not fall too far.

Another thing that you want to check is the total weight capacity of the trampoline. You do not want to exceed the maximum weight limit of the trampoline when you are having a sleepover. It can cause the mat to rip in the middle of the night while you are sleeping on it.
