Best Long Trampolines For Gymnastics

If you’ve got a large backyard, then going with a trampoline is the surefire way to put a smile on your kid’s face. And the best part is, it doesn’t even matter how big the trampoline is. As long as your child can jump around on the trampoline every afternoon, he will be happy.

But for aspiring gymnasts and acrobats, going with any odd trampolines is never a solution.

Let me explain – while going with a small 8 feet trampoline might be fine for your little ones, a gymnast would need a much bigger surface area to pull off complicated aerial tricks.

And that makes things a lot more complicated when choosing the trampoline. Going bigger doesn’t automatically make the trampoline better. You also need to think about its safety, build quality, and padding quality. In other words, you need to dig in and do your research carefully.

Best Long Trampolines For Gymnastics

Needless to say, all this looking around can become overwhelming, even for a seasoned gymnast. And if you are a beginner dipping your toe for the first time to test the waters, I’m sure it’s already starting to demotivate you. Well, you don’t need to worry about that while I’m here.

In this article, I will help you find the best long trampolines for gymnastics so that you have to spend minimal time looking for the perfect trampoline and can focus more on your skills and agility. With that said, let’s hop in – excuse the pun!

Best Long Trampolines for Gymnastics Reviews

I’m sure you must be thinking – who the heck is this guy who thinks he can drop his trampoline suggestions? What’s his credibility? And I won’t blame you for it.

The truth is, I am not much of a gymnast myself, but I have been a huge fan of trampolines and a regular user ever since my childhood. And having gone through a bunch of different models over the years, I have gathered a fair bit of experience with all sorts of trampolines.

Now whether you’ll go with my suggestions is up to you. But what I can tell you is that I definitely have some ideas about the best long trampolines for gymnastics that I can share with you to make your search easier.

1- Upper Bounce Rectangle Trampoline Set with Premium Top-Ring Enclosure System – Best Overall

  • Weight Capacity: 500 pounds
  • Size: 9 x 15 feet
  • Shape: Rectangle
  • Springs: 90
  • Spring Material: Galvanized steel
  • Installation: 2-3 hours
  • Price: Check the latest price

I know Upper Bounce trampolines are notoriously expensive, but that doesn’t change the fact that they produce some of the most reliable, safe, and high-quality trampolines out there. That’s why I decided to start this list of reviews with the UBRTG01-1016 by Upper Bounce, a trampoline that’s built to perform.

The biggest perk of going with a high-end brand like Upper Bounce is that you are promised superior build quality. You see, a lot can go wrong on a trampoline. And if it’s not built well, there’s a risk of the frame getting bent as you keep using it time and time again. Of course, with Upper Bounce, you don’t have to worry about that.

The heavy-duty powder-coated steel frame of the trampoline, along with its four W-shaped legs, promises the utmost durability and stability for the jumper. And since the frame is rust-resistant, keeping it out in the rain shouldn’t be an issue. Weather conditions have no effect on its lifespan.

With the Upper Bounce UBRTG01-1016, you will get around 9 x 15 feet of rectangular jumping area which is enough for any skilled gymnast to truly let go. You can move around without fear of bumping into the frames and can practice any acrobatic tricks you want with the trampoline.

Now jumping area alone doesn’t mean much if the bounciness of the trampoline isn’t that much, to begin with. Well, Upper Bounce took care of that, too, by giving you a high-quality PP mesh jumping mat held tightly by 90, high-tension, galvanized steel springs to ensure you are getting the perfect height with your jumps.

Another thing I love about the trampoline is its massive weight capacity. I’ll be honest when I got this trampoline for my kids; gymnastics was the last thing on my mind. The reason I went with it was because of its 500 pounds of weight capacity which meant I could join in with my two kids on the trampoline whenever I wanted without any fear.

This trampoline comes with eight poles to keep the safety enclosure held upright. The height is good, and I really love the quality of the nets. You should also find nothing worth complaining about regarding the quality of the safety pads and the enclosure zipper.

The trampoline comes in three separate boxes, and assembly couldn’t be any easier. If you are a first-timer, you can download the Bilt app on your phone and get 3D step-by-step instructions on how to set it up. Installation shouldn’t take you longer than a couple of hours if you follow the guidelines.

Whether you are a gymnast or just a homeowner who wants to get a trampoline for his family, you can’t go wrong with Upper Bounce. But while it’s the perfect trampoline, no matter how you look at it, the steep price tag that it comes with can be a bit disheartening.

Don’t get me wrong – the trampoline is extremely well-built, and the brand’s after-sales service is also pretty impressive. But its approximate 1200 dollars price tag might be a bit too much for some people. Still, if you have the budget, there are very few trampolines out there that can overshadow the Upper Bounce UBRTG01-1016.

What I Liked

  • Exceptional build quality
  • Large jumping area
  • Impressive weight capacity
  • Easy installation using the Bilt app

What I Didn’t Like

  • Not a very affordable option
  • The spring count is a bit low for its size

2- Skywalker Trampolines – Rectangle Jump-N-Dunk Trampoline with Enclosure – Best Budget-Friendly Trampoline for Gymnastics

Skywalker Trampolines - Rectangle Jump-N-Dunk Trampoline with Enclosure – Best Budget-Friendly Trampoline for Gymnastics
  • Weight Capacity: 250 pounds
  • Size: 9 x 15 feet
  • Shape: Rectangle
  • Springs: 76
  • Spring Material: Galvanized steel
  • Installation: 2-3 hours
  • Price: Check the latest price

I know – no matter how good the quality you get with an Upper Bounce trampoline is, most homeowners wouldn’t want to spend that much on a trampoline. Now if you are a professional gymnast getting it for your personal training, things would be different. But for a beginner, shelling out this much right out the gate isn’t an option.

Well, in that case, I would ask you to turn your attention to Skywalker, a brand that’s known for providing a solid platform for those on a budget. Skywalker has many excellent trampolines that you can consider. But for budding gymnasts, the Rectangle Jump-N-Dunk is the one that makes the most sense.

Check Best 10ft Trampolines.

Now, I’ll be honest, this trampoline is actually designed for kids, and as such, it comes with a couple of kid-friendly features, such as an included basketball hoop and a solid, high-grip ladder. But if you don’t need those things, you can just simply not use them.

Skywalker Trampolines - Rectangle Jump-N-Dunk Trampoline With Enclosure – Best Budget-Friendly Trampoline For Gymnastics

With Skywalker trampolines, durability is never a question. This trampoline comes with a solid galvanized steel frame that’s resistant to rust or weather effects. And the four U-legs also come with t-socket joints, which improve the stability and strength of the trampoline.

In addition, the large 9 x 15 feet rectangular jumping area will also give you plenty of room to work on any ariel tricks you set your mind to. And if gymnastics is not your thing, and you got it for your family, you’ll be happy to know that two or three kids can jump around in it without bumping into each other.

The bouncing mat in the trampoline is also built well, and its no-gap enclosure system also minimizes the risk of getting your limb stuck in the middle when you are using it. There are a total of 76 high-tension springs to keep the mat firm and tight, and while the spring count is a bit low, it’s not bad, either.

The biggest downside to the low spring count is the trampoline’s weight capacity. And in my experience, that’s a common issue with most Skywalker trampolines out there. The manufacturer’s recommended weight limit for this trampoline is only 250 pounds which is fine for a single athlete, but it’s still a bit low compared to other options on this list.

Apart from that, though, there’s not much I could find worth complaining about with this trampoline. The enclosure poles are strong, and once you put up the net, it can prevent accidentally falling out of the trampoline as you are jumping around in it. And the enclosure net is also quite durable.

As I mentioned previously, you get a free basketball hoop and a ball with your purchase, which means you can play some hoops as you bounce around on the trampoline. For gymnasts, it might not mean much, but for a family man like me, putting the basketball hoop on the trampoline was a nice gift for my little ones.

Despite such premium build quality and performance, this trampoline only costs around 700 to 750 bucks. I know it’s not that cheap either, but you need to remember that it’s still one of the finest 15 feet trampolines that’s available on the market, and that too from a reputable brand.

What I Liked

  • Comes at an affordable price tag
  • Excellent jumping area
  • Safe, no-gap enclosure system
  • Includes a free basketball hoop

What I Didn’t Like

  • Low spring count offers less bounce
  • The weight capacity isn’t much

3- Happy Trampoline Rectangle Trampoline – Best Premium Trampoline for Gymnastics

Happy Trampoline Rectangle Trampoline - Best Premium Trampoline for Gymnastics
  • Weight Capacity: 750 pounds
  • Size: 10 x 20 feet
  • Shape: Rectangle
  • Springs: 140
  • Spring Material: Galvanized steel
  • Installation: 4-5 hours

Commercial trampolines, such as the ones I talked about above, are great and all, but for a professional gymnast, it might still not be enough. Sure, they offer good value, and even though they are great for homeowners, a gymnast would want a greater surface area to practice their jumps.

Check Best 20 Feet Trampolines Of 2023.

And that’s where Happy Trampoline comes in. Don’t let the name fool you – this brand is one of the most popular choices for professionals. The Galactic Xtreme rectangular trampoline is a premium choice that costs a pretty penny, but it’s worth the price if you want professional-grade performance.

When I say premium, I mean premium, and you can notice it clearly when you check out the build quality on this beast of a trampoline. It features a strong and sturdy steel frame along with an amazingly stable design that’s safe, reliable, and offers heaps of jumping height.

Happy Trampoline Rectangle Trampoline - Best Premium Trampoline for Gymnastics

The steel frame used to build this trampoline is around 3 mm thick and has a galvanized coating to protect it against rust or other weather effects. For improved stability, the trampoline comes with five W-shaped legs installed horizontally across the bottom.

The positioning of the legs might seem a bit off the beaten path, but it’s extremely effective at keeping this 10 x 20 feet trampoline firmly rooted to the ground when it’s in use. And yes – you read that right! It gives you 20 feet of unfiltered jumping surface to use however you see fit.

Now you might be wondering what you would even do with such a huge trampoline if you’re not a gymnast. Well, I have two kids, and with this trampoline, the missus and I could join them every now and then without worrying about bumping into each other.

And the space is not the only good thing about this trampoline. It also has a massive weight capacity to go along with it. This trampoline can hold up to 750 lbs. of body weight. On starry nights, we could also camp out on the trampoline without any issues.

The quality of the net, jumping mat, and safety pads are also amazing, giving you a truly premium feel. It’s loaded with 140 9-inch steel springs giving you the perfect height every time you jump on it. So, if you’re a gymnast, you won’t have trouble practicing new tricks with this trampoline.

As I said, though, this trampoline is not for those with a tight budget. It costs around 2600 dollars, and since it’s huge, it also requires a large backyard for you to set it up. Installation can also take a while with this trampoline, not because of its complexity but because of its sheer size.

But as long as you understand these problems and they are not a dealbreaker for you, you will be extremely happy with this trampoline. You could, of course, go with a smaller one (there are a couple of different options here) if money is the only issue stopping you from getting it.

What I Liked

  • Premium jumping experience
  • Massive jumping surface
  • Exceptional build quality
  • Perfectly stable when set on firm, even ground.

What I Didn’t Like

  • Installation can take a while
  • Requires a large backyard for you to set it up

4- Springfree Trampoline Kids Jumbo Square Trampoline – Best Springfree Model

Springfree Trampoline Kids Jumbo Square Trampoline – Best Springfree Model
  • Weight Capacity: 1100 pounds
  • Size: 13 x 13 feet
  • Shape: Square
  • Springs: 84
  • Spring Material: Composite Rods
  • Installation: 5-6 hours
  • Price: Check the latest price

Springfree is a European trampoline manufacturer that surfaced in 2013 and quickly took over the industry because of its patented spring-less trampoline design. No springs mean no chance of your little ones getting their hands stuck in the middle of the springs and hurting themselves.

Since its conception, Springfree Trampoline has come up with plenty of different models in different sizes. And while they fall in the expensive category, the 13 feet model is a pretty reasonable choice for young gymnasts. It’s built well and offers quite a nice set of features.

I know – the 13 feet Springfree Kids Jumbo Square Trampoline isn’t the cheapest either, but at least you will get a good value out of the deal. And since it’s a bit smaller than the other options on this list, people with a smaller backyard will have no trouble setting it up.

The build quality is one thing you will never complain about with Springfree trampolines. Every single component of this trampoline is manufactured with utmost care and precision, ensuring the best user experience. It has a three-layer protection frame built with high-quality galvanized steel that can survive the test of time without any issues.

If you’ve never heard of Springfree Trampolines before, I’m sure you are wondering – how on earth does a trampoline without springs work? Well, instead of going with the traditional tension springs, these trampolines come with composite rods mounted under the jumping mat to give you the rebounding effect.

The advantage to this design is twofold – firstly, the rods are tucked under the frame, which means zero exposure and less chance of injury. And secondly, the design also enhances the weight capacity of the trampoline. For instance, this 13 ft model can handle up to 1100 pounds of body weight, which is pretty huge.

Of course, the jumping area can seem a bit limiting. It comes in a square design, and you get around 13 feet of jumping space on all sides. For one or two kids, it’s fine, but for more people, the space isn’t that ideal. However, if you get this as a training tool for a young gymnast, it’s a great choice.

The jumping mat comes with soft edges to improve its shock absorption capacity. In other words, you won’t have to worry about any jarring sensation as you are bouncing off the mat. And the enclosure net is firm yet flexible enough to prevent you from falling off the trampoline.

Setting up this trampoline can take a while, though, so make sure you are prepared for that. This is a small caveat that you would have to deal with any Springfree trampolines. The assembly process can be a bit hectic. But it does come with a clear instruction manual, so I don’t think it would be too much of an issue if you are handy with some tools.

Shelling out around 1700 bucks for a 13 ft trampoline might seem a bit unfair to some, though, and I understand that. But the truth is, you won’t find this level of quality in other trampolines of this size. So, if you prioritize quality over price, then this is a fantastic trampoline for your home.

What I Liked

  • Superb build quality
  • Safe, spring-less design
  • Firm and flexible enclosure net
  • Requires a smaller space to set up

What I Didn’t Like

  • The jumping area is a bit small
  • Quite expensive for its size

5- JumpKing Pro Rectangular Trampoline

JumpKing Pro Rectangular Trampoline
  • Weight Capacity: 400 pounds

  • Size: 10 x 18 feet
  • Shape: Rectangle
  • Springs: 120
  • Spring Material: galvanized steel
  • Installation: 3-4 hours
  • Price: Check the latest price

JumpKing as a brand often gets overshadowed by bigger names like Upper Bounce or Springfree, but frankly, it’s a shame. Yes – their trampolines are expensive, but when it comes to build quality and jumping performance, they can go toe-to-toe with any other top-tier trampoline brand out there.

Take the JumpKing Pro-series Rectangular Trampoline, for instance. It gives you everything you would want out of your investment. It’s safe, it’s durable, and the chances of it failing when you are using it are slim at best. And not talking about this trampoline when I am talking about the best ones just wouldn’t be right.

Check Best Professional Trampoline.

Now since I am talking about trampolines that are great for gymnasts in particular, I decided to go with one of the bigger models. Naturally, the bigger a trampoline, the more it costs. But then again, the build quality and safety features you get with the trampoline are also usually better.

JumpKing Pro Rectangular Trampoline

This trampoline comes with a frame made out of high-strength galvanized steel that can withstand any weather effects and doesn’t rust easily. Its six-legged design ensures utmost stability as long as you know where to put your trampoline. I mean, if you put it on a rocky hill and the trampoline wobbles, it’s your fault.

But as long as you can find a nice, firm, even ground for the trampoline to set up, you won’t have to worry about any shakiness. As I said – this trampoline is a big boy. And by big, what I mean is you’ll be getting 10 x 18 feet of total jumping surface with it, which is plenty for anyone to practice aerial tricks.

The manufacturer’s recommended weight limit for this trampoline is 400 pounds. Now, I am all for staying within the weight limit for safety issues. But I’ll be honest – I could get away with a total of 500 pounds without any problem. Of course, I am not suggesting that you exceed the weight capacity in any way.

The weight limit is there for your safety, after all. And frankly, I don’t like the weight cap that much. Since it’s a big trampoline, I would have loved it more if the weight capacity were somewhere around the 600 – 700 pounds range. For small kids, though, it shouldn’t be a complete dealbreaker.

One thing you can be sure of with this trampoline is that it’s safe. The trampoline comes with a strong, high-quality enclosure with twelve poles keeping it firm and tight. And the jumping mat and safety pads also feel pretty premium and long-lasting.

The jumping experience is also pretty nice, thanks to its high spring count and spring quality. This trampoline comes with a total of 120 galvanized steel springs. The middle springs are around 8.5 inches long, while the corner springs are a bit shorter, measuring in at around 5.5 inches.

Overall, it’s a pretty well-made trampoline that’s easy to set up and doesn’t induce any headaches for the user. It’s as safe as a trampoline can be, and the jumping experience with it is also quite nice. And as long as the sub-1800 dollar price tag doesn’t seem like a dealbreaker for you, this is the right trampoline for you.

What I Liked

  • Six-legged design offers better stability
  • Easy and hassle-free setup
  • 10 x 18 feet jumping area
  • High spring count offers better jump

What I Didn’t Like

  • The weight limit is a bit low
  • Not a very affordable choice

6- JumpSportAlleyOOPPowerBounce 10’x17’ Trampoline with Enclosure

JumpSportAlleyOOPPowerBounce 10’x17’ Trampoline with Enclosure
  • Weight Capacity: 800 pounds (Single User 350 Pounds)
  • Size: 10 x 17 feet
  • Shape: Rectangle
  • Springs: 164
  • Spring Material: galvanized steel, PowerSprings
  • Installation: 4-5 hours
  • Price: Check the latest price

JumpSport is another brand that gets overlooked often by homeowners, but not for the same reason. You see, while they manufacture many commercial trampolines, most of their models are priced pretty steeply. In fact, it’s one of the main reasons I put this trampoline so far down the list.

But I’ll be honest, having tried one myself, I can say that these trampolines are worth the price. For one thing, they are built like a tank. And secondly, the bounce height you get with their trampolines, combined with their safety and reliability, is unmatched in the market.

For gymnasts, a long trampoline is essential. That’s why I decided to go with the JumpSportAlleyOOPPowerBounce 17 feet Rectangular Trampoline. Yes – it’s not cheap, but if you want a premium performance and feel with your trampoline, then this one is a no-brainer.

Now what makes the AlleyOOP exceptional? Well, there are many reasons. So, let’s start with the build quality. This trampoline features a thick 2.5 mm steel frame that’s pre-galvanized to prevent issues like rust and corrosion. It comes with four W-shaped legs placed diagonally near the edges to ensure jumping stability.

Of course, you could say that the number of legs is a bit low for its size, and I wouldn’t blame you. Truth be told, this is one of the only few gripes I have with this model. No – it’s not unstable, and nor will it topple over in use because of it. But I get how it can bug you as a parent if your kids will be using the trampoline.

The true highlight of the trampoline, however, is its intricate spring design. The manufacturers used black high-performance springs with the trampoline to ensure the perfect jumping height for each bounce. But the arrangement of springs and the technology behind it is a bit unique.

The PowerBounce technology, as the manufacturers call it, is a patented spring system that lets you fine-tune the spring size to account for different age and skill groups. So, you have the option to lower or increase the bounce height to accommodate whoever is using the trampoline.

It comes with 164 pre-installed springs, 92 of which are your regular galvanized steel springs. The rest of the 62 springs are PowerSprings, which lets you fine-tune your experience with the trampoline. And this also allows the trampoline to have a massive weight capacity of around 800 pounds in total.

The trampoline offers you around 10 x 17 feet of jumping area and is covered with a high-quality double-walled enclosure system. This design eliminates the need for zippers which is one less component that could go faulty in the trampoline. And despite the lack of zippers, the enclosure system is extremely safe and prevents falling out of the trampoline.

Now as I said before, it’s not a cheap trampoline. Getting one new will set you back around 3000 bucks which might not exactly be feasible for many homeowners. However, for those who want to truly hone their acrobatic capabilities, this is a fantastic trampoline to go with.

What I Liked

  • Premium build quality
  • Large jumping area
  • Impressive weight capacity
  • You can fine tune the jumping height

What I Didn’t Like

  • Comes with only four legs
  • The price is extremely high

7- Arctic Scorpion 10×17 FT Rectangular Trampoline with Basketball Hoop

Arctic Scorpion 10x17 FT Rectangular Trampoline with Basketball Hoop
  • Weight Capacity: 350 Pounds
  • Size: 10 x 17 feet
  • Shape: Rectangle
  • Springs: 64
  • Spring Material: galvanized steel
  • Installation: 4-5 hours
  • Price: Check the latest price

In this review, I have talked about some pretty expensive trampolines. And the truth is, a high-quality trampoline from a well-known brand does cost a pretty penny. But if you are on a budget and don’t want to sacrifice the jumping space, going with a less-known brand is a good option.

Then again, there are some risks here as well. With an outdoor toy like a trampoline, you want to go with a safe option. And that’s when doing your own research is important. In my search, though, there’s one trampoline brand that stood out to me – Arctic Scorpion.

Now I don’t know about you guys, but shelling out 1500 dollars or more on a trampoline, even a big one, doesn’t sound too appealing to me. And when I laid eyes on this trampoline by Arctic Scorpion, I knew that I had to try it out. Thank God that I did cause now I can recommend it to anyone safely.

Arctic Scorpion 10x17 FT Rectangular Trampoline with Basketball Hoop

First off, the build quality of this trampoline is quite nice. I wasn’t expecting much, to be honest, but when I noticed the galvanized steel frame with a decent bit of thickness, I was quite happy. The included enclosure net also feels firm and elastic and saved me from falling out off the trampoline on more occasions than once.

The trampoline comes with 5 W-shaped legs and is firmly planted on the ground when you set it up. I never noticed any sort of wobbling when I used it. And its Polypropylene jumping mat is also well made and shouldn’t rip off no matter how you abuse it.

Of course, with budget trampolines, there is always a tradeoff. And in this case, it’s the weight capacity. The manufacturer recommended weight limit for this trampoline is only 350 pounds, which is fine for a solo user. But for two or more people, you might be better off going with something like the Skywalker or Upper Bounce.

The number of springs in this trampoline is also a bit low relative to other comparable models. It comes with only 64 springs which means the jumping height will be a bit low. But hey, look at the bright side – at least you don’t have to worry much about letting your kids jump on it.

For gymnasts, though, replacing the trampoline springs or going with a different configuration might be necessary if they want to get more height from it. The jumping area is good, though, giving you 10 x 17 feet of jumping surface, so that’s a nice thing it has going for itself.

Installation and setup also didn’t take long with this trampoline. It comes with a clear instruction manual, so even if this is your first large trampoline, you should have no trouble navigating through the setup. Besides, you can always look up an installation guide online if you are having issues with it.

The trampoline includes a free basketball hoop and an antiskid ladder for your kids to climb on it. Again, this wouldn’t matter much for a gymnast looking to work on his skills, but for kids or homeowners, this is a nice addition. For a 1300-dollar trampoline, this is not a bad deal at all.

What I Liked

  • Excellent build quality
  • Large jumping area
  • Includes a free basketball hoop
  • Comes at a reasonable price

What I Didn’t Like

  • Maximum weight capacity isn’t much
  • The number of springs is low

Things to Look for in Best Long Trampoline for Gymnastics

Buying a new trampoline for gymnastics can be tough, but if you know what to look for, you can save yourself from a lot of hassle. Understanding the key points can help you narrow down your options.

Things to Look for in Best Long Trampoline for Gymnastics

Here are some of the features I try to focus on when going for a long trampoline myself.

Trampoline Shape

One of the first things that you need to think about when picking up a trampoline is its shape. Trampolines come in a few different shapes, but the two most common ones are either round or rectangular. Now while homeowners usually favor round trampolines, for gymnasts, a rectangular trampoline is usually better.

And the reason is that with round trampolines, the bounciness of the trampoline is center focused. What that means is you will get the most height from your jump when you are jumping on the center of the trampoline mat. And as you gravitate towards the edges, your jumping height will start becoming lower.

However, that’s not an issue with rectangular trampolines. The biggest benefit of a rectangular trampoline over a round trampoline is that the jumping height will be even all across the mat. This is essential for a gymnast as he will likely move around the mat to pull off different aerial tricks.

Oval or square trampolines are also an option, as the bounce is not center-focused. But typically, these two shapes come with a smaller jumping surface. So, my recommendation would be to stick with a nice, large rectangular trampoline.

Trampoline Size Matters

Just as there are different shapes of trampoline, you can also pick them up in different sizes. And while homeowners would benefit more from a high-end 12 feet trampoline, for a gymnast, going with anything smaller than a 16 feet trampoline might not be a wise idea.

You see, smaller trampolines offer some advantages, sure, but they don’t give you enough space to try out different acrobatic tricks. Then again, you would need a pretty large space in your backyard for you to set up a large trampoline, so that’s another thing that you have to keep in mind if you have a small backyard.

Weight Capacity is Another Major Concern

I’m sure you’ve noticed how there’s a manufacturer’s recommended weight limit for each trampoline. Well, the number’s not there just for show – it is important to consider the capacity when you are picking up a new trampoline for your backyard.

And if you want a safe, risk-free experience on the trampoline, you need to make sure that you are staying well under that weight limit. Now if you go with a large, rectangular trampoline, you will most likely get a decent weight capacity with it. But some trampolines, especially the cheap, knock-off ones, have much lower capacity than normal.

I’m not saying that exceeding the weight capacity will break your trampoline overnight. But it will put more stress on the frame and the jumping mat than what it’s designed to handle. And if you continue to exceed the weight limit, it will negatively impact the lifespan of your trampoline.

Of course, if you are buying the trampoline for a single user, then going with a trampoline that can handle 350 pounds should be enough. But for multiple users, you want to make sure the trampoline can handle at least 500 pounds of body weight or more.

Springs Dictates Bounce

The spring count of a trampoline might not matter much for a casual or first-time user, but for a gymnast, it holds a lot of importance. You see, the bounciness of the trampoline depends almost entirely on the number of springs, their length, and quality.

I won’t bore you with too many details here (I have another article for that) but know that longer springs usually offer better jump height than shorter springs. Also, a higher number of springs allow you to get more even tension on the jumping mat which results in an overall better jumping experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a couple of questions that I often get asked about the best long trampoline for gymnastics.

Can you use a round trampoline for gymnastics?

I would strongly advise against it. The problem with a round trampoline is that it has a center-focused bounce. That means if you jump on the edges, you will not get a good height for aerial tricks. For gymnasts, a rectangular trampoline offers a much better experience overall.

How much is a gymnastics trampoline?

Gymnastics trampolines are typically more expensive than commercial ones and can easily run you well over a thousand dollars. There are cheaper options available, but they usually come with some limitations, such as poor jumping performance or a smaller jumping area.

With Everything Said and Done

Getting a gymnastics trampoline can be a big commitment. You can’t really just go with a small, round trampoline and call it a day. It’s important to make sure that the trampoline you’re getting has enough jumping area and can give you a decent bit of bounce for it to be used for gymnastics.

And needless to say, that also bumps up the price by quite a bit. Going with a truly high-end trampoline such as the Happy Trampoline Rectangle Trampoline is a good idea as it will last you for years to come. But for a tight budget, the Skywalker Rectangle Jump-N-Dunk is a good idea too.

I hope my in-depth article on the best long trampoline for gymnastics could leave you with a couple of good options to go with. Good luck!
