7 Best Heavy Duty Trampoline: Durability and Safety
Not all of us can or want to go through a monk diet and remain light as a feather. Some of us love eating, which includes stuffing down chicken, bacon, and, best of all, juicy steaks. I know it doesn’t seem very healthy, but as they say, ‘you only live once.’
Some of us are heavy by choice, and some of us are not. However, it shouldn’t come in the way of having a good time with a trampoline.
Maybe back in the day, there weren’t any trampolines for people with excessive weight, but now, we have trampolines that can withstand up to 1500 lbs.
So, whether you’re looking to lose some weight with fun or enjoy quality time with your family and friends, then the best heavy-duty trampoline is something you might be interested in.
Now, the question is— how do you know which one is the perfect fit? You might be 250lbs or 300lbs, and the trampoline you get may not come with such a single-user weight limit.
Well, I had the pleasure of owning a heavy-duty trampoline. Plus, I often spoke to trampolinists to pick their brain on what sets a quality heavy duty trampoline aside from others. So, you’ll find the experience I share here really valuable.
Top 7 Heavy-Duty Trampoline
Heavy-duty trampolines are not like your typical trampoline. Most of them are pretty expensive, and they might put a dent in your wallet. Thus, it’s not ideal to randomly choose a heavy-duty trampoline without any insight whatsoever. So, if you’re looking to see some perspective, then here it is.
1- SkyBound 16 ft Trampoline with Enclosure Net
The number one on my list is the SkyBound 16 ft Trampoline. Honestly, I was in a dilemma between the SkyBound and Upper Bounce Rectangle trampoline. Both of them can be classified as top-tier heavy-duty trampolines; however, the former is significantly more affordable than the latter.
So, the difference in price and the overall similarity of the quality led me to crown the SkyBound trampoline as the best. In any case, I believe you’ll also feel the same once you take a look at the specs of it.
Trampolines are not only about how high you can jump; it’s also about having a good time with your family while remaining safe. The SkyBound trampoline meets and exceeds the ASTM Standards: F318-16 and F2225-16. It is also approved by BSCI, Intertek, CPC, ISO 14001, and 9001.
So, the trampoline comes with more than enough certifications to prove its safety facilities. Apart from that, it has a sturdy frame construction featuring hot-dip galvanized steel with powder coating. The unique build makes the frame extremely durable and allows it to resist rust.
As for stability, the trampoline comes with six U/W-shaped legs with connection points. It helps the trampoline to hold more weight than an average item. The SkyBound trampoline has a maximum weight capacity of 1000lbs, but single users weighing more than 330lbs shouldn’t enter it.
I am around 180 lbs, and there is my wife and two kids. We all used to go into the 16 ft trampoline at the same time without facing any problems whatsoever. With a Skywalker trampoline, you can’t do the same or jump with your entire family.
The enclosure net, on the other hand, was very nifty. It was pretty dense, so my kids couldn’t tear it up. I also liked the foam padded poles, which made sure my children didn’t hurt themselves while accidentally bouncing too hard.
The trampoline offers great bounce with the addition of 96 galvanized springs. My kids really enjoyed their time hopping, dunking (it comes with a detachable basketball hoop), and bouncing inside it.
The 16 ft model comes in two designs: with and without soccer posts. The included soccer post version is a bit more expensive than the other. However, like my little ones, your kids are surely going to enjoy the soccer bar model.
Nonetheless, I think the instruction manual could’ve been more organized or easy to understand. It took my wife and me quite a long time to install the trampoline just because of the poor instruction.
Additionally, the trampoline came in multiple packages, and the boxes weren’t delivered on the same day. I got the second and third boxes after a day or two of receiving the first package.
My family and I had a great time with the SkyBound 16 ft trampoline, except for the minor technical issues. It came with many additional items, such as a top cover, ladder, basketball hoop, and even a shoe bag to make matters more convenient.
Overall, the trampoline is worth the money; however, if you want to keep your options open, then try taking a look at the JINS&VICO 1500LBS 16FT Trampoline. I think it’s the perfect alternative to the former.
What I Liked
- Suitable for multiple jumpers and heavy individuals
- The package comes with many items for increased convenience
- High-density enclosure net is durable and UV-resistant
- 96 coiled springs for the extra bit of bounce
What I Didn’t Like
- Hard to follow instruction manual
- The trampoline comes in three packages, which is a little annoying
2- Upper Bounce Rectangle Trampoline with Premium Top-Ring Enclosure System
It’s impossible not to hear about Upper Bounce once you enter the world of trampolines. Some of you may have heard the name ‘MACHRUS,’ but the title ‘Upper Bounce’ is more common for people who have or deal with trampolines.
They are one of the leading marketers of trampolines and accessories. So, when you get an Upper Bounce trampoline, you can be sure that it’s not gonna fail you.
The only reason I didn’t put the Upper Bounce Rectangle trampoline on the top is that it’s way costlier than the SkyBound 16 ft trampoline. You can say the Upper Bounce trampoline is a premium alternative to the latter.
Let’s get back to the details. The trampoline comes in three different sizes: 8 x 14 ft, 9 x 15 ft, and 10 x 17 ft. The price will vary according to the size you choose, and as you can guess, the bigger the model, the costlier it is. I got the 8 x 14 ft for my family, and it had more than enough space to accommodate all of us.
As some of you may know, rectangle trampolines come with some extra benefits. The particular shape has the highest and most controlled bounce. Additionally, the rectangle shape allows jumpers to utilize the extended space and practice stunts or trick jumps. It also gives you a bigger jumping surface to enjoy family fun time.
In any case, the trampoline’s frame is made using heavy-duty steel with powder coating. It enables the trampoline to remain stable and rust-resistant and withstand the harsh conditions of bad weather. Also, the trampoline has been tested safe for kids and adults. It meets all the requirements of ASTM.
The most interesting aspect of the trampoline might be the top-flex fiberglass rod. It keeps the enclosure net straight and elevated. This allows the users to jump as high as possible without the risk of falling off the trampoline. This particular feature makes the trampoline a wise choice for kids and adults who prefer gymnastics.
Apart from that, the no-gap enclosure net, along with the spring pad and padded poles, makes the trampoline very safe for users of all ages. It also comes with four U-shaped legs and 86 high-tension springs (96 in the 9 x 15 model and 108 in the 10 x 17 version), which ensure a stable bouncing experience.
More often than not, the enclosure net is around the entire trampoline, including the spring pad. In the case of the Upper Bounce rectangle trampoline, the enclosure net sits inside the spring pad, keeping my kids away from spring-related injuries.
The only thing I didn’t like about the item was the time it took to install the trampoline. It took my wife and me a couple of hours to set up and install the entire thing. If it takes two adults a few hours to assemble the trampoline, then imagine how long it’s going to take if you’re doing it on your own.
Anyways, the installation gets easier once you get the hang of it. Plus, it’s not a deal breaker, as once you set it up, you won’t have to do it again for a long time. So, if you have the means or the budget to afford the item, then it can be the best heavy-duty trampoline for you undoubtedly.
What I Liked
- Features a substantial maximum weight capacity of 500lbs
- Durable, sturdy, and can handle the effects of poor weather
- Top-flex rod to keep the enclosure net straight and elevated
- Rectangle shape for controlled and maximum bounce
What I Didn’t Like
- Not the most affordable trampoline out there
- Installation can be a little tricky, and the manual doesn’t help you much
3- Beast K9 10×17 Performance Rectangle Trampoline
The Beast K9 rectangle trampoline does justice to the name ‘Beast.’ What makes me say that? Let me tell you something— the trampoline has no weight capacity. It means anyone weighing anything can enjoy the trampoline. Also, there is no restriction on how many people can enter the Beast K9 simultaneously.
Okay, let’s dial it back a little. I can’t exactly remember why I wanted to get the trampoline in the first place; I think it was because I wanted something that could handle any kind of load.
Anyways, I clearly remember that my wallet cried a lot the day I got the trampoline. The Beast K9 is one of the most expensive trampolines on the market, so if it’s not a necessity or if you aren’t packed, then it would be a good idea to look at more affordable alternatives like the JINS&VICO 1500LBS 16FT Trampoline or Upper Bounce Rectangle Trampoline.
The Beast K9 is not all talk and no action. There are some very good reasons behind the overwhelming cost. First of all, it has a colossal jumping surface due to the 10×17 ft build and the rectangular shape. As you already know, a rectangular trampoline is usually costlier than round and oval trampolines as it requires more material to produce.
Secondly, it comes with a heavy-duty frame featuring 2.4-inch thick galvanized steel tubes. It makes the trampoline significantly more durable and keeps it stable even when multiple jumpers are using it.
The jump mat features cross-sewn polypropylene with ten-row stitching for optimal performance. On the other hand, the trampoline comes with a thick vinyl cover and a safety pad for the springs and the mat. The trampoline is resistant to the elements of weather, so I never had to take it down or disassemble it, even during winter.
With 140 piano wire springs, the trampoline can deliver a tremendous bouncing experience. I thought the sturdy build of the trampoline was going to be its blue-ribbon quality, but after jumping inside it for a while, I couldn’t tell whether the Beast K9 had a better bounce performance or frame construction.
Apart from that, it had a 42-inch tall enclosure net, which went around the spring pad. It reduced the risk of my kids accidentally hurling themselves on the pad or going over it because of a high bounce. Well, it was expected that my children or wife wouldn’t hurt themselves on the trampoline as it meets and exceeds the CE and ASTM standards.
The installation was a little annoying. Although I received a spring pull tool and a graphical instruction manual, it still took my wife and me around two hours to install the trampoline. The instruction was straightforward and easy to understand, but it required a lot of effort, time, and strength to fix the springs.
Nevertheless, a little work is nothing compared to what the trampoline has to offer. Even after all the features, it came with a ladder to make our experience more memorable. In short, the trampoline is a great purchase, provided you have the means to afford it.
What I Liked
- Extremely durable and can resist UV or harsh effects of weather
- Any number of users or jumpers of any weight can enjoy the trampoline
- High bounce quality with a big jump surface
- Included ladder makes it all the more convenient
What I Didn’t Like
- Takes a few hours to assemble and install
- Probably the most expensive trampoline on the list
4- JINS&VICO 16FT Trampoline
The next trampoline on the list comes from a brand that is not known by many. Even I was unaware of JINS&VICO before getting their 16 ft trampoline. I’m not implying that I’ve used trampolines of all the brands out there, but I at least have an idea about most of the leading industries.
JINS&VICO was utterly new to me, so I didn’t know what to expect from one of their trampolines. However, I decided to rely on my luck and got the trampoline anyways. Much to my surprise, it was a pretty good deal, and for the time it was in our yard, my family really enjoyed using the trampoline.
So, the JINS&VICO 16 ft trampoline isn’t as expensive as the Beast K9; in fact, it is even cheaper than the Upper Bounce rectangle trampoline. It is one of the reasons why I could muster the courage to buy an unknown trampoline. If it was costly, like the premium trampolines on my list, then I probably would’ve had to think a few more times before purchasing it.
Unlike the Beast K9, the trampoline has a maximum weight capacity of 1500 lbs. The weight capacity is still much more than what you get from the SkyBound or Upper Bounce trampoline. Honestly, I was fairly impressed by how much load it could take, as all of my family members could hop inside the trampoline at the same time.
The trampoline felt very stable due to the w-shaped legs with balance bars. It kept the trampoline in place even when a couple of kids or adults jumped inside the trampoline. I’ve used the JINS&VICO trampoline for only a couple of months, so I can’t really comment on its durability. The overall frame didn’t look as well-built as the one on Beast K9.
However, don’t worry; I’m pretty sure it’s going to last more than just a few months or years as it is approved by AATCC 169, D638, ASTM F381, and F2225 standards.
The trampoline features 108 galvanized springs with an anti-rust coating. The springs, along with the polypropylene jump mat, make it extra bouncy. My kids would go in there for hours before tiring themselves out.
Apart from that, the enclosure net also seemed pretty well-stitched and safe. However, I don’t like the fact that the spring pad sits inside the enclosure net. Not that it happened with my children, but it increases the chance of kids trapping and injuring themselves by the springs.
Except for that, I liked all the other features of the trampoline. It came with wind stakes and windproof straps to remain stable when there is a strong gust. I also received an included ladder with the package. It made using the trampoline even more convenient.
The JINS&VICO trampoline offers a lot more than the money you’re spending. There are only a handful of trampolines that give you a 1500 lbs weight capacity for the same price. In short, the trampoline is suitable for families with many members.
What I Liked
- Comes with a generous jumping surface
- 1500lbs weight limitation is more than enough for multiple adults and kids
- Six W-shaped legs with six balance bars for increased stability
- Curved poles to ensure the little ones don’t hurt themselves while bouncing
What I Didn’t Like
- The spring pad is situated inside the enclosure net
- Not the most durable trampoline on the market
5- BCAN Recreational Trampoline
Getting a heavy-duty trampoline can be overwhelming, especially because of how costly it is. Most of the trampolines that fall under the category of heavy-duty or come with an enormous weight capacity cost at least $500 and sometimes even more.
However, it doesn’t mean that there isn’t any sturdy trampoline that is affordable for everyone. While searching high and low for heavy-duty trampolines, I came across the BCAN trampoline, which I found to be the most budget-friendly among all the trampolines I’ve mentioned so far.
Whether we like it or not, the idea ‘cheap means poor quality’ is drilled into our heads. I’m no exception, so when I got the BCAN trampoline, which was considerably cheaper than the trampolines I usually purchase, my mind was filled with doubt.
Nonetheless, all my doubts were cleared once I got the chance to experience the trampoline myself. Unlike the JINS&VICO, Upper Bounce, or Beast K9, the BCAN trampoline was much smaller. It only came in two sizes: 10 ft and 12 ft. The former would’ve been way too small for us, so I went along with the latter.
Despite the affordable price tag, the trampoline comes with many interesting features. I will start with the most impressive part, which is the snap button on the poles. Every trampoline comes with poles, some are padded, and some are not; however, the BCAN features snap buttons for quick pole removal.
So, whenever you see a storm coming, just snap the buttons and remove the poles; it will keep them from bending because of the strong wind.
The trampoline comes with thick zinc galvanized tubes and w-shaped legs. These aspects make the trampoline durable and keep it stable when more than one person is bouncing inside.
Coming to the statement of multiple users— the trampoline can hold up to 480 lbs of weight. The weight limitation is enough for more than one adult or a few kids. My kids and some of their friends used to play inside it almost every other day, and it didn’t make the trampoline budge.
While comparing the enclosure net of the JINS&VICO and BCAN trampolines, I’ve realized that the one on the latter is much better. First of all, the enclosure net is situated around the spring pad and not the entire trampoline. On top of that, it consists of 3mm superfine mesh, which prevents fingers related injury.
The BCAN trampoline has a round shape. So, naturally, the bounce quality won’t be as great as the one I got from the Beast K9 and Upper Bounce rectangle trampolines. However, when I compared the overall bounce of the BCAN with the SkyBound and JINS&VICO round trampolines, I noticed that the former falls a little short.
It’s probably because of the number of springs. Anyways, it’s not a deal breaker, but a little more bounce would’ve been nice.
Apart from the bounce quality and limited size options, I liked everything about the trampoline. It came with an included ladder, and the jump mat was also very durable with UV and weather-resistant features.
In brief, you get far more than what you’re paying with the BCAN recreational trampoline. I believe it is the best heavy-duty trampoline for people on a budget.
What I Liked
- Comes with a high-weight capacity
- Budget-friendly choice
- Poles with snap buttons for easy removal
- Superfine mesh net to ensure kids remain safe inside
What I Didn’t Like
- Comes in only two sizes
- The overall bounce could’ve been better
6- Springfree Kids Jumbo Square Trampoline
Next up on my list is the Springfree jumbo square trampoline. It comes in two different sizes: 11 ft and 13 ft. Both of the models are gigantic, hence the title ‘jumbo.’
The price varies according to the size you choose. I think the 13 ft version is even costlier than the Beast K9, and I didn’t want to spend so much on another trampoline, so I went along with the 11 ft model. It still cost me a fortune to buy the trampoline, but it was worth the investment.
The Springfree square trampoline has a huge jumping surface of 113 sq. ft., unlike the BCAN trampoline. Bigger space means more people can enjoy the trampoline or a larger place to execute stunts.
Additionally, the trampoline comes with durable frame construction. It is made up of tubed alloy steel with powder coating. The unique combination enables the frame to stand the test of time, handle a heavy load and resist rust, scratches, and elements of bad weather.
One of the best things about the trampoline is that it has a very high weight capacity of 1100 lbs. It was far more than what I needed for my family. All of us could jump inside the trampoline together. Anyways, there is a catch— the single-user maximum weight limit is 220 lbs. So, anyone weighing more than that shouldn’t enter the trampoline for safety reasons.
Apart from that, the trampoline features a SoftEdge design for the mat. It allows the jump pad to become 30 times more shock-absorbent than standard mats, making the jumping experience smoother and less painful.
The enclosure net, on the other hand, is made using tight-woven mesh. It is super fine, so kids won’t get their fingers stuck inside or be able to climb it. The poles, on the other hand, are also thin and curved for further safety.
Unlike the Upper Bounce, Beast K9, SkyBound, BCAN, or JINS&VICO trampoline, the Springfree jumbo square trampoline uses flexible composite rods instead of springs for the bounce. It makes the trampoline safer than all the trampolines I’ve mentioned so far, but the overall bounce quality takes a hit.
The composite rods remain under the mat and frame, so there is no risk of spring-related injury. However, the bounce isn’t as great as you get from trampolines with springs. It’s a small price you have to pay to keep your little ones safe and secure.
What I Liked
- A unique springless design to keep kids safe while jumping
- The jump mat is 30 times more shock-absorbent than standard pads
- Tight-woven mesh for the enclosure net makes it unclimbable
- Suitable for multiple adults and kids
What I Didn’t Like
- It can be quite expensive for many people
- The flexible composite rods are hard to bend and install
7- CITYLE 1500LBS Trampoline for Adults/Kids
Number 7, or the last one on my list, is the CITYLE trampoline. Being at the bottom doesn’t mean that the trampoline isn’t of optimal quality. It is, without a doubt, one of the best round trampolines on the market, and you’ll also feel the same once you take a look at what it has to offer.
CITYLE isn’t as famous as other brands like SkyBound, Upper Bounce, or Beast. Honestly, I didn’t even know about them until one of my friends introduced me to the brand and the trampoline. He gave me a little idea about the trampoline, so I decided to get my hands on it.
First of all, the trampoline comes in many sizes: 12, 14, 15, and 16 ft. I went along with the biggest model as I intended to get it for my family. It was big enough for my entire family to enjoy together; however, it was also costlier than the other smaller versions.
Anyways, the CITYLE trampoline has a robust and durable build. There are a total of 12 tall poles (the number varies according to the size) and 6 W-shaped legs. The entire frame, including the poles and the legs, is made using heavy-gauge galvanized stainless steel. I believe it’s also resistant to rust.
The enclosure net, on the other hand, features a no-gap design. The spring pad sits outside the net, so I didn’t have to worry about my kids hurting themselves on the springs. Furthermore, the net comes with UV-resistant capabilities, allowing it to retain its color for a long time.
The maximum weight limit of the CITYLE trampoline is 1500 lbs, which is the same as the capacity of the JINS&VICO trampoline. I haven’t had the chance to see if it could actually hold 1500 lbs, but I’m confident that it can take more than 500 lbs easily.
Nevertheless, the maximum weight for a single user is 330 lbs. If anything, or anyone more than 330lbs, enters the trampoline, it might cause the jump mat to touch the ground. The bounce quality was also very decent, and it was pretty similar to the JINS&VICO trampoline.
I had quite a rough time while trying to install the trampoline, mainly because of the poor instruction manual and the springs. The guide is crappy, and it doesn’t help at all. I needed to watch a few tutorials on YouTube to figure out a way to install it.
Furthermore, attaching the springs was a herculean task. The trampoline can be pretty expensive, especially if you choose the 16 ft model. However, it comes with many things like a ladder, wind stakes, and even a basketball hoop for the kids. Overall, it’s an investment that I won’t regret. In fact, it might be one of the best heavy-duty trampolines I’ve ever used.
What I Liked
- Comes in many sizes and colors
- Suitable for adults and kids
- Durable and stable
- Features a ladder and a basketball hoop for the kids to enjoy
What I Didn’t Like
- The instruction manual is pretty much useless
- The springs are extremely tough to attach
The Ultimate Heavy-Duty Trampoline Buying Guide: Quality and Durability Combined
Choosing a trampoline is more challenging than using one. There is no right or wrong way of using a trampoline, but when it comes to picking one, then there are a number of green and red flags you need to check. If you manage to figure out all the green flags, then you will surely go home with the best trampoline on the market.
Weight Limitations
A heavy-duty trampoline with a low weight capacity cannot be considered as ‘heavy-duty.’ So, it’s probably the most important aspect to look for when you’re deciding to get a top-notch trampoline.
Heavy-duty trampolines usually come with a weight capacity of at least 400 to 500 lbs. It allows heavy jumpers or multiple individuals to use the trampoline. So, if someone or some organization is saying, ‘heavy-duty trampoline with 250lbs maximum weight capacity,’ then run away as fast as possible.
One quick note— there are also trampolines that have no weight limitations, like the Beast K9.
Durability
Make sure to get a trampoline that can handle the load of your family or withstand the test of time. Heavy-duty trampolines usually fall into the category of ‘expensive.’ If something that costly bites the dust in a few months or even years, then you’ll be the first one to regret it.
So, I will suggest you guys check if the trampoline you’re choosing is certified by legal governing bodies and features durable frame construction.
Size
As you already know, trampolines come in various sizes. The small ones can be only a few feet in diameter, while the big ones can be as large as 16 ft, 17 ft, or sometimes 20 ft as well.
But why do you think size is important? Well, let me tell you a story. We had a tiny yard in our old home. I didn’t consider the space and bought a high-end 14 ft trampoline anyways. It was a big mistake, and I had to return the trampoline after going through the trouble of opening the boxes.
If only I had bought a trampoline for a small yard, then I wouldn’t have had to face such difficulty. So, make sure to check the area of your yard before deciding on the size of a trampoline.
Shape
All trampolines come in a particular shape. The most common shapes are round, square, oval, and rectangle. Each of them has its own merits and demerits. For instance, square trampolines are usually costlier than their round and oval counterparts.
On the other hand, rectangle trampolines are used mainly by athletes, and they are probably the costliest among all the shapes. So, make sure to know what each trampoline shape has to offer, and then choose the one that best suits your needs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some questions related to heavy-duty trampolines. It should help you understand the ins and outs of such trampolines.
Is a heavy-duty trampoline better than a regular trampoline?
Yes, heavy-duty trampolines are, in fact, better than regular trampolines. They are more durable, stable, and have more weight capacity. However, they are probably going to cost more because of the extra benefits.
Are the replacement parts of a heavy-duty trampoline costly?
You might think that heavy-duty trampoline replacement parts will cost more than usual, but it’s actually not the case. You can easily find cheap spare items on the market by yourself. However, some parts are more difficult to find than others.
Time to Test the Water!
Heavy-duty trampolines are not something you just go and purchase. They tend to require big bucks, so it’s essential to check whether the trampoline you’re getting can satisfy your needs or not.
You might find it unusual, but the best heavy-duty trampoline can be affordable yet also have the optimal quality to last for a long time. However, figuring out which one to get might be a little more tedious than you think.
If you’re looking for suggestions— then I would recommend the SkyBound or Upper Bounce rectangle trampoline. The former is more budget-friendly than the latter, but there is a slight difference in quality. On the other hand, if you don’t prefer to concern yourself with weight limitations, then you can go with the Beast K9 trampoline, which has no single-user weight capacity.
