Before having kids, I was always a round trampoline person. The bounce felt more controlled and balanced in such trampolines, but they also felt riskier. So, things changed when I had children of my own.

I don’t know about you, but I always felt that square trampolines are safer than round ones. Plus, they came with more jumping space for my kids to enjoy. In my case, I knew that even if I fell off the trampoline, I would recover pretty soon. However, I couldn’t say the same about my kids, nor was I willing to take the risk.

That’s when my journey to finding the best square trampoline began, and till this day, it never stopped. So, if you’re also a worried parent like I was back in the days or someone who prefers the square shape over the round, then mate, you better treat yourself to all the info I’ve got here.

Anyways, my job is to make things easier for you. So, I’ve lined up the top 4 square trampolines. In my opinion, they are the creams of the crop. You can thank me later.

1- Skywalker 14-Foot Square Trampoline with Enclosure

Skywalker 14-Foot Square Trampoline with Enclosure
  • Weight Capacity: 250lbs
  • Safety: ASTM Standards
  • Springs: 96
  • Item Dimension: 168″L x 168″W x 228″H
  • Frame Material: Galvanized Steel
  • Pad Type: Foam Pad

Although the Skywalker 14-foot trampoline came out on the top of my list, it wasn’t my first choice, not even the first item I checked out. I was a little skeptical about the trampoline when I bought it, but after seeing my kids enjoy it, I didn’t have any other option but to place it on the top.

The best thing about the jumping pad is that even my neighbor’s eldest son, who is 16, was able to use it comfortably. Unlike round trampolines, this one had a much bigger jump surface. I’ve seen my kids and their friends bouncing on it together. They didn’t have to take turns, and right that moment, I knew I had made the right call by getting the Skywalker square trampoline.

There are about 96 coiled springs spread all across the trampoline, so my kids and their friends never had to complain about the bounce. It’s true that the edges are a little less bouncy, but it didn’t bother them much.

So, the maximum recommended weight capacity is about 250lbs, but per my experience, it can hold more than 250 very easily. There were times when I saw 5-6 kids jumping together on the trampoline. Yes, I was a little worried it might break or the mat might rip off, but I was worried for nothing.

The overall construction felt and looked durable. The trampoline has a galvanized steel frame with T-sockets at each leg. So, it was pretty stable while allowing the frame to resist the elements of outside weather.

Usually, when I get a trampoline, I need to bust my head off just to make sure it’s safe enough for my kids. However, the Skywalker 14-foot trampoline came with an enclosure net, which was connected to the jumping pad.

There were no big gaps in the net, so I didn’t have to worry about my children falling off the mat or hurting themselves because of the springs. Additionally, the poles that hold the net are angled, which keeps the kids from coming into contact with them while playing.

The Skywalker 14-foot square trampoline meets ASTM standards. However, it doesn’t come with a ladder, so you will either need to buy one or let your children climb onto the trampoline manually. Apart from that, the trampoline is pretty easy to set up, but the assembly process can be a bit lengthy.

What I Liked

  • It has a big jump surface
  • 250lbs weight capacity is more than enough for a couple of kids to play together
  • No-gap enclosure system keeps children safe
  • The galvanized steel frame can resist the elements of weather and rust

What I Didn’t Like

  • Assembly and the installation process require quite a bit of time
  • Doesn’t come with a ladder

2- EL&IT·Wings 6.5-Foot Square Trampoline

EL&IT•Wings 6.5-Foot Square Trampoline
  • Weight Capacity: 130lbs
  • Elastic Ropes: 80
  • Item Dimension: 55″L x 55″W x 55″H
  • Frame Material: Thicken Alloy Steel
  • Material: Polypropylene
  • Net Material: Elastic Mesh

Now, the next one is for people who don’t have a big space in their backyard or front porch or someone who prefers to keep a trampoline inside their house. Usually, when your children are too young, it’s best to keep the trampoline inside your home as you can hear them playing and know if they got hurt or not.

In any case, the EL&IT·Wings 6.5-Foot Square Trampoline is an item that you can place in your living room or even in your kid’s room. It comes in two sizes— 4.6 feet and 6.5 feet. The first model is going to be much smaller, so you will have an easier time keeping it inside your home sweet home; however, it will only be able to hold one kid or maybe two very young children at best.

I’ve got the 6.5-foot version, so I don’t have much idea about the former. The 6.5-foot trampoline is small enough to fit inside my children’s room yet big enough for three kids to play in there at the same time. However, if you’re planning to get the trampoline for three kids, then you will need to make sure that they haven’t had their growth spurt.

The EL&IT·Wings trampoline is as safe as it gets. It comes with a 360-degree removable enclosure net which ensures the safety of the little fellows. The net is made up of soft elastic mesh cloth, so your kids won’t hurt their fingers while playing. The steel poles, on the other hand, remain outside the net, for which I didn’t have to worry about my kids crashing into them.

Nevertheless, you have the option to remove the net whenever you feel like it. If you think your children are big enough to jump on the trampoline without the protection of the net, then by all means, go ahead and take it off. It’s a little risky, but it will give them more jump space to enjoy.

The EL&IT·Wings trampoline is a little different from your standard jumping pads. It doesn’t use coiled springs; instead, it features 80 elastic rope buckles. Yes, it isn’t as bouncy as springs, but it is much safer for the kids.

Anyways, the trampoline has a weight capacity of 130 lbs or 60kg. It was more than enough to hold three children, who had a combined weight of 100 lbs or so. Despite being only 42 pounds, I was really impressed that the trampoline could withstand such weight.

If you ever feel like moving the trampoline outside, you can because the jump mat is made up of waterproof, anti-fading, and non-slip polypropylene. The trampoline is safe and reliable, but it doesn’t come with a ladder, and it takes quite a while to stretch the bungee cords for installation.

Needless to say, it is the best square trampoline as my kids were able to play on it safely while I could focus on my work without worrying about them.

What I Liked

  • It is lightweight but has a high weight capacity
  • It can be used as an indoor or outdoor trampoline
  • The package comes with an instruction manual and tools

What I Didn’t Like

  • Takes a long time to stretch the bungee cords
  • An included ladder would’ve been useful

3- Springfree Kids Jumbo Square Trampoline

Springfree Kids Jumbo Square Trampoline
  • Weight Capacity: 1100lbs
  • Springs: Flexible Composite Rods (No Springs)
  • Item Dimension: 132″L x 132″W x 106.8″H
  • Frame Material: Alloy Steel
  • Material: Polypropylene
  • Net Material: Tight-Woven Mesh

The next trampoline I’m going to talk about is going to be extremely difficult to fit inside your house, even if you live in a mansion. So, I suggest you don’t do it and just keep it in your backyard or front porch. However, if you’re still bent on getting something smaller that you can place inside your home, then take a look at some of the top-notch indoor trampolines I’ve used.

The Springfree square trampoline does justice to the word jumbo. It is enormous and can hold a considerable number of kids or a few adults at the same time. The trampoline comes in two sizes— 11 feet and 13 feet. There is a significant price difference between the two sizes, so make sure you check it out before getting one of them.

Apart from that, there isn’t any difference between the two versions except that one of them is bigger and the other is smaller. I’ve used the 11-foot model, and yet it felt like the trampoline was bigger than what I needed.

Springfree Kids Jumbo Square Trampoline

Nonetheless, the enormous size isn’t the only worthwhile attribute of the trampoline. It also comes with a few other neat features that made me put it on my list of the best. Like all the trampolines I’ve talked about so far, this one also offers a 360-degree enclosure net. The net is made up of tight-woven mesh, preventing kids from climbing on it or falling off from the sides.

Usually, trampolines are constructed using coiled springs, but the Springfree Kids Jumbo trampoline uses flexible composite rods for the bounce. Using composite rods is like a double-edged sword— it makes the trampoline safer as your kids won’t or can’t hurt themselves on the metal springs, but the overall bounce is reduced.

The trampoline features something called the SoftEdge design for the mat. It makes the jumping surface 30 times more shock absorbent than pads while eliminating a hard border. The frame, on the other hand, remains underneath the jumping surface, which makes it impossible for kids to get hurt by crashing into the poles.

Additionally, the frame is durable enough to deal with the harsh elements of weather. It won’t matter if you keep the trampoline outside for days or months because the frame won’t decay. However, you should use a good trampoline coverjust to stay on the safe side.

The maximum weight capacity of the item was about 1100 lbs, which was more than enough for my entire family to jump inside the trampoline. However, you should make sure every individual jumper is less than 220 lbs.

The Springfree Kids Jumbo Square Trampoline is one of the best in my experience. However, it is very costly and not at all suitable for people with a tight budget. Furthermore, it is super challenging to set up and takes more than a couple of hours, so make sure to use an extra pair of hands while installing it.

What I Liked

  • It has an enormous jumping surface
  • Flexible composite rods are much safer for the kids
  • It comes with a high-weight capacity
  • The jumping matt is 30 times more shock absorbent

What I Didn’t Like

  • Installation is complicated and requires long hours
  • Not the most affordable trampoline out there

4- Goplus 36″ Square Toddler Trampoline

Goplus 36" Square Toddler Trampoline
  • Weight Capacity: 330lbs
  • Item Dimension: 39″L x 37.5″W x 34.5″H
  • Frame Material: Alloy Steel
  • Material: Polypropylene
  • Handrail: Foamed
  • Frame Legs: Footpads

Frankly speaking, getting the Goplus 36″ square trampoline was a spur-of-the-moment decision. I didn’t research it, nor did I know anything about the trampoline. One of my kids saw it while we were shopping in the mall, and he wasn’t letting me leave without it, so I had no other option but to get the trampoline.

Well, I didn’t need to think twice before purchasing the item because it was cheaper than I expected. Yes, I was a little concerned about the quality at first, but we all came to like the trampoline very soon.

Let’s clear a few things out first. The Goplus square trampoline doesn’t come with an enclosure net, so make sure you’re getting it for toddlers who are able to jump on it without the risk of falling off. However, the good thing is the jumping mat isn’t very high from the ground; hence, even if they fall from it, they won’t get hurt much.

In any case, the trampoline comes with a very sturdy construction. The jump mat is made up of polypropylene, and it does a fine job against tearing. There is also a protective cover along with binding ropes, which keep the springs at bay. The trampoline is ASTM certified, so I didn’t have to worry much about the safety of my kids.

The frame, on the other hand, is made up of reinforced alloy steel. There are four legs to support the overall weight of the trampoline and jumpers. The legs come with footpads, which prevent the item from slipping or scratching the floor of your lovely home.

The fact that the trampoline doesn’t come with a net would’ve been a deal breaker if it didn’t come with the foamed handrail. My kids were able to hold the handrail and jump on the pad without falling off.

Still, I think the best thing about the trampoline is that it can be assembled and disassembled very quickly. So, with the Goplus square trampoline, you won’t have to worry about space shortage in your home.

What I Liked

  • It is very affordable
  • Foamed handrail for stronger and better grip
  • Weighs only a little but has a high weight capacity
  • Easy to install and take apart

What I Didn’t Like

  • Doesn’t come with an enclosure net
  • Not very suitable for outdoor

Why Get or Avoid a Square Trampoline

There are a few reasons why someone may want to get a square trampoline, but there are also aspects that make people prefer a round one over a square one. Let’s take a quick look.

Reasons to Purchase a Square Trampoline

Space waste isn’t in the vocabulary of a square trampoline. Due to their unique design, such trampolines can offer 20% more jumping surface when compared to a round or oval trampoline. A square trampoline gives you or your kids more area to enjoy and jump on. You don’t have to worry about staying in the middle to get the maximum bounce.

Reasons to Purchase a Square Trampoline

Additionally, square trampolines have a higher weight capacity because of their shape. A round trampoline of the same size won’t be able to hold the same amount of weight.

Finally, a square trampoline can be placed almost anywhere or in any corner of a room without having to waste space. If you’re planning on conserving space in your home, then a square trampoline would be a better choice.

Reasons to Avoid a Square Trampoline

A square trampoline is usually more expensive than a round trampoline of the same size. As the former requires more material to construct, the price of it is also slightly and sometimes significantly more than the latter.

Reasons to Avoid a Square Trampoline

Square trampolines can give you the highest bounce and jumping surface. However, if you’re looking for a controlled and more balanced bounce, then nothing beats the convenience of a round trampoline. In the end, it all boils down to requirements and preferences.

For instance, if you’re a gymnast, then it is highly likely that you would prefer a square trampoline over a round one because the former has the highest bounce.

Best Square Trampoline: 6 Things You Need to Know

Before purchasing a square trampoline or any other trampoline, you need to consider a few key elements. Only after careful consideration of these aspects will you be able to get the perfect square trampoline in your house.

Best Square Trampoline: 6 Things You Need to Know

Size Always Matter (Pun Intended)

The first thing you need to check before buying a square trampoline is its size. For instance, if you’re looking to keep the trampoline inside your home, then you should consider a smaller trampoline. On the other hand, if you have a huge backyard or front porch and want your kids and their friends to play inside the trampoline together, then you will need something gigantic like a 16ft trampoline.

Trampolines come in many different sizes. Some are as small as 3 feet only, while some are bigger than 16 feet. So, you need to check what size trampoline you need and if the model you’re choosing meets the requirements.

Bounce Quality is Important

A trampoline is all about the bounce. The better the bounce, the better the trampoline. A trampoline that offers low bounce is the same as a bed or a couch.

So, you should check the bounciness of a square trampoline before getting one. Trampolines that use coiled springs offer the highest bounce; however, they are also risky for children. If not appropriately covered, a child can easily hurt himself/herself on these springs.

On the other hand, flexible composite rods or bungee cords are safer for kids, but the overall bounce won’t be as great as the trampoline made using springs. So, it’s up to you to decide what you want more, bounciness or safety.

Enclosure Net Keeps Everyone Safe

Usually, the high-end trampolines come with enclosure nets to keep jumpers from falling off the jump pad. I’m not saying enclosure nets are a must, but it’s better to have them than not have them, especially if you’re getting a trampoline for your kids.

Make sure the net is made up of good quality material because if it isn’t, then the little guys will just rip them to shreds in a few days.

Safety Features are a Must

Most of the time, people buy a trampoline for two reasons—either it is for their kids or because they are into gymnastics. Now, a faulty or unsafe trampoline can be very dangerous in both of these scenarios. You or your kids might get severely injured because of it.

Therefore, it’s best to look at the safety features before purchasing a trampoline. Check the quality of the jump mat and see if it is durable enough. Make sure the springs are covered, especially if you’re buying the trampoline for your toddlers. You should also see if the steel poles are at a safe distance from the jumping area.

Weight Capacity Can Help You Decide

Before settling on a square trampoline, you should know how much weight it can hold. The more the weight capacity, the more kids the trampoline will be able to accommodate.

Most of the trampolines I’ve talked about come with a high weight capacity. Some of them can be used by adults as well. So, if you’re planning on having some family fun, then make sure the trampoline you’re getting can accommodate all of you.

Installation Ease Saves You Time

Installing a trampoline can be quite the herculean task. Some trampolines require 3 to 4 hours just to assemble and install. If you aren’t willing to go through that trouble or just don’t have the time, then you should look into a trampoline that can be installed easily.

However, I must tell you that all the big trampolines require a ton of effort and time to install, especially if you’re new to all this. You can try using some external trampoline anchors to make the job easier. They were pretty helpful in my case.
